Running Accomplishments:

I participated in my first marathon in Portland '07 and finished at 3:46... My only goal for my first marathon was to finish with 10 minute miles, I didn't really know what to expect. The longest race I had completed was a half marathon  which was quite challenging, it is called The Dirty Half and it is located in Bend, Oregon throughout the race you gain and lose over 1000 feet of altitude and the 10 th mile is one long hill. Yikes. But two years in a row I finished at 1:45 so I felt good about it.

Short-Term Running Goals:

My short term running goals are to finish the Dirty Half this year at 1:37 and to qualify for Boston in the Portland Marathon this year, coming in at 3:35.

Long-Term Running Goals:

My long term goals for running are just to always have the desire and will to keep running every morning and to make my husband complete a marathon. He is considering it.

I finally caught up on sleep. I know they say you can't but I felt very rejuvenated. My husband, my dog and I went on a nice run from the river trail by my work to down town and back around. It was a nice run and we ran before the crazy weather came in. We decided to have a nice breakfast afterward. It was a nice Sunday.

I went to the gym tonight with my husband and his brother. I ran on the treadmill for 45 minutes; I am still trying to kick a cold so I started off a little easy. It was nice because I tried to make it a sort of tempo run. Every 10 minutes I kicked the pace up and at 32 minutes ended up running an average 7:15 mile then at 40 minutes I kicked up to a 6:55 mile. It is so hard running on a treadmill sometimes because I can't get used to the stride if I have been running outside for a while. I changed gyms recently so now we have tv's on the actual treadmill so it really takes my mind off things being able to distract myself with reality tv. Before we went to the gym I did 40 minutes of advanced pilates. I don't really know what makes it advanced but thats what the title said. It was nice though because it moved really quick from position to position.

Ran these miles slower than usual. It felt really hard running today, I have been sick so I just wanted to get log some miles. but, after I got home I felt so much better. I just did this loop that I like to run around my house brought my dog and he loved it.

Since I had been feeling so crappy I had a wonderful nap in the day. The pretty much motivated me to go for a run, this time I didn't bring my dog, just wanted to go and not worry about holding on the barkley. I ran this quick loop around my house, it felt pretty good but it was a lot colder than it looked outside.

Well my friend Ashley wanted to go running today and meet down at our work; so I decided to run down there and meet her. But, I decided to go a longer route, so I gave myself an hour and 15 minutes to get down there and I took a 9.2 mile course. I got down to the Old Mill and met Ashley and we ran a 3.3 mile course so I total I ran 12.5 miles for the day. It felt pretty good, it was a lot warmer than what it has been outside so it energized me for a closing shift at work that night.

After running yesterday I really needed to shake it out; I could feel my hamstrings getting sore already. So, since it was already a beautiful day from the get go I woke up and went on a run. It felt awesome. I did my 3.5 mile street loop with barkley and it was a great way to start off my saturday.
