I wasn't really trying to run fast I just wanted to run for time. Then when I was done with running I lifted a bit. When my husband got off of work we decided to go running on the river trail. It was pretty nice outside, but the wind started picking up. My husband is trying to get in the groove of running and he has been having some off days. So tonight wasn't one of his feel great running days. But, both of us have been getting over colds and our allergies are starting so our bodies are just wacked. I felt good. But, I love runnning on the trail although there were so many mountain bikers and walkers it kind of annoyed me.</p> Thu, 17 Apr 2008 04:00:00 +0100 Wed, Apr 16, 2008 http://nikki.fastrunningblog.com/blog-04-16-2008.html I went running with my friend ashley but she runs quite a bit slower than me, so at certain points in our run I would run back to where she was and run with her a bit. It is hard though because although my stride isn't long at all, it is really quick so everytime we were going to turn I would go back to her. Usually this run takes me about 36 minutes so although my pace didn't really get that much altered, I probably ran at least a mile and half more than her since I kept going back for her. It was a beautiful day, but pretty cold. When we finished my hands were icicles. Wed, 16 Apr 2008 04:00:00 +0100 Tue, Apr 15, 2008 http://nikki.fastrunningblog.com/blog-04-15-2008.html Well, I took two days off since I did something to my neck and back yesterday. I had to work at 7 this morning so after I did some prep stuff I took off for a run. It was a hard start, it was really cold outside and it felt like I never really warmed up, but I felt better for the rest of the day. At the end of work my husband called and met me at work to run the river trail. I already had my running clothes so I put them back on and went for a river trail run. It felt better than my morning run; and it is helping me split up my runs so I have more miles for the week. It was still pretty cold though but the wind wasn't as bad. Tue, 15 Apr 2008 04:00:00 +0100 Sat, Apr 12, 2008 http://nikki.fastrunningblog.com/blog-04-12-2008.html After running yesterday I really needed to shake it out; I could feel my hamstrings getting sore already. So, since it was already a beautiful day from the get go I woke up and went on a run. It felt awesome. I did my 3.5 mile street loop with barkley and it was a great way to start off my saturday. Sat, 12 Apr 2008 04:00:00 +0100 Fri, Apr 11, 2008 http://nikki.fastrunningblog.com/blog-04-11-2008.html Well my friend Ashley wanted to go running today and meet down at our work; so I decided to run down there and meet her. But, I decided to go a longer route, so I gave myself an hour and 15 minutes to get down there and I took a 9.2 mile course. I got down to the Old Mill and met Ashley and we ran a 3.3 mile course so I total I ran 12.5 miles for the day. It felt pretty good, it was a lot warmer than what it has been outside so it energized me for a closing shift at work that night. Fri, 11 Apr 2008 04:00:00 +0100 Wed, Apr 09, 2008 http://nikki.fastrunningblog.com/blog-04-09-2008.html Since I had been feeling so crappy I had a wonderful nap in the day. The pretty much motivated me to go for a run, this time I didn't bring my dog, just wanted to go and not worry about holding on the barkley. I ran this quick loop around my house, it felt pretty good but it was a lot colder than it looked outside. Wed, 09 Apr 2008 04:00:00 +0100 Tue, Apr 08, 2008 http://nikki.fastrunningblog.com/blog-04-08-2008.html Ran these miles slower than usual. It felt really hard running today, I have been sick so I just wanted to get log some miles. but, after I got home I felt so much better. I just did this loop that I like to run around my house brought my dog and he loved it. Tue, 08 Apr 2008 04:00:00 +0100 Mon, Apr 07, 2008 http://nikki.fastrunningblog.com/blog-04-07-2008.html I went to the gym tonight with my husband and his brother. I ran on the treadmill for 45 minutes; I am still trying to kick a cold so I started off a little easy. It was nice because I tried to make it a sort of tempo run. Every 10 minutes I kicked the pace up and at 32 minutes ended up running an average 7:15 mile then at 40 minutes I kicked up to a 6:55 mile. It is so hard running on a treadmill sometimes because I can't get used to the stride if I have been running outside for a while. I changed gyms recently so now we have tv's on the actual treadmill so it really takes my mind off things being able to distract myself with reality tv. Before we went to the gym I did 40 minutes of advanced pilates. I don't really know what makes it advanced but thats what the title said. It was nice though because it moved really quick from position to position. Mon, 07 Apr 2008 04:00:00 +0100 Sun, Apr 06, 2008 http://nikki.fastrunningblog.com/blog-04-06-2008.html I finally caught up on sleep. I know they say you can't but I felt very rejuvenated. My husband, my dog and I went on a nice run from the river trail by my work to down town and back around. It was a nice run and we ran before the crazy weather came in. We decided to have a nice breakfast afterward. It was a nice Sunday. Sun, 06 Apr 2008 05:00:00 +0100 Fri, Apr 04, 2008 http://nikki.fastrunningblog.com/blog-04-04-2008.html I got up extra early this morning before I had to open and took the dog out running. It was really nice though because it was the first morning that I didn't have to use my flashlight to see where I was going. The sun is shinning earlier; it made me feel energized even though the sun wasn't beating down my face. It was nice. My dog really liked the morning run as well. It tuckered him out for the rest of the day. I have this nice run that is an almost perfect 3 and half miles around my house; even though sometimes it feel repeatative it feels comfortable. It was a great start for the end of the week. Fri, 04 Apr 2008 05:00:00 +0100 Wed, Apr 02, 2008 http://nikki.fastrunningblog.com/blog-04-02-2008.html Not quite enough sleep last night, but I worked late and had to open in the morning. Since I had some time though I decided to hit the trail by my work. It was quite cold though this morning and I could really feel this run. It has been a hectic work week so far, so even the beautiful scenery couldn't really give me that much ambition this morning. But, it did wake me up for a pretty rough day. Wed, 02 Apr 2008 05:00:00 +0100 Tue, Apr 01, 2008 http://nikki.fastrunningblog.com/blog-04-01-2008.html The weather was actually pretty nice today. I decided to try to do a nice urban run. Well as urban as Bend is; but through the streets and what not. The wind got me every once in a while but overall it felt pretty good. I tried to get in 5 fartlicks as well. Tue, 01 Apr 2008 05:00:00 +0100 Sun, Mar 30, 2008 http://nikki.fastrunningblog.com/blog-03-30-2008.html I wanted to ease into my run alittle this morning. I woke up to snow; yet again. This weather is nuts. I can't wait to go running in shorts and a t shirt. I wanted to slow down my pace and run for time rather pace; sometimes that helps me get use to running longer distances, even though I might not run that much farther. Sun, 30 Mar 2008 05:00:00 +0100 Sat, Mar 29, 2008 http://nikki.fastrunningblog.com/blog-03-29-2008.html I got my husband to go on a nice run with me before I had to go to work. it was a nice run. But, very cold. The funny thing was that it looked so pleasant outside sunny, not a cloud in the sky; but very cold; bitterly cold. I think it was like 18 degrees. yikes...once we started running though it was a lot better and I got my husband to get out and run with me and the dog.... Sat, 29 Mar 2008 05:00:00 +0100 Thu, Mar 27, 2008 http://nikki.fastrunningblog.com/blog-03-27-2008.html I know I need to start doing more LSD runs but I always procrastinate before I have to go to work. So today i made my self go for a longer run with my dog but i still always have the habit to race against time. The last race I did the girl that came in first in the 10k said she thought the course was a little long, she raced the 10k quite frequently and i came in second at 46:11 she was 6 minutes faster than me; so today i was kind of interested in seeing if the course was a little long. And i think it was because i didn't feel nearly as exhausted today as i did after the race. Thu, 27 Mar 2008 05:00:00 +0100 Wed, Mar 26, 2008 http://nikki.fastrunningblog.com/blog-03-26-2008.html well i wanted to go running but i was trying to race time, before my husband got home, so i ended up trying to run pretty quick but the resistance was still there because our weather has been similiar to &quot;narnia&quot;. so i did the quick run but i ended up going to the gym and running for 22 minutes on the treadmill trying to just go easy and build some time to my day. So i ended up running on the treadmill 2.7 miles. I also did some one legged squats to try to build my core and my legs. Wed, 26 Mar 2008 05:00:00 +0100 Mon, Mar 24, 2008 http://nikki.fastrunningblog.com/blog-03-24-2008.html The weather has been pretty weird lately. One week it will perfect running weather nice breeze and 55 and the next week it will be 21 and snowing outside with crazy wind. Today was a cold windy day again but I got my running shoes and took my dog with me. He motivates me to go fast and he loves it..The wind got pretty harsh on my way back to my house when I was tying to bring it home with a kick but it make for good resistance but my dog didn't like it much. Mon, 24 Mar 2008 05:00:00 +0100 Sun, Mar 23, 2008 http://nikki.fastrunningblog.com/blog-03-23-2008.html I was at work and decided to make time to go for a run before we opened. I am pretty lucky because my work is located on the Deschutes River so there are some pretty nice trails around the river. It was pretty windy which was annoying at first but it made for a nice Easter workout. And it energized me for a long day at work. Sun, 23 Mar 2008 05:00:00 +0100
